Hi, It’s Dan again! I know, I know, I’ll try to keep it short this time.
So what do we do at Homeless Link Alberta? Well right now we are doing a ton of behind the scenes stuff like interviewing for our Board of Directors, writing our by-laws and incorporating the society to gain our not-for-profit status with CRA, but I won’t bore you too much with those details.
Homeless Link Alberta mission is to:
“To provide non-judgemental assistance to the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless by linking these individuals to support and services from existing government agencies, private agencies and private individuals wanting to help.”
But you might be asking yourself “What will they be doing?”. Well, it is simple. There are so many people I have come across in Spruce Grove that want to help the homeless. Whether it be people who want to cook meals, donate clothes and supplies, help transport people in need to appointments at government agencies (such as Alberta Works, Service Canada, Food Banks or the AISH office), or other Non-profits such as the Thrift Store, that wants to provide ongoing donations for those in need (thanks again to your amazing staff and volunteers!). Well, it’s simply, we want to provide a service that is the community to link homeless (or those who are at risk of becoming homeless) with the services they need. Get it…Homeless Link Alberta (groan I know, I have a corny dad type sense of humor!).
Well, If you like what you hear and want to get involved, drop us a line some time we would love to hear from you!
